Thistle’s Turnkey Storage Solution to Clydebank College
Thistle Storage Equipment has demonstrated its expertise in the
education sector with a complete design, specification and installation
service for Clydebank College in no fewer than nine departments.
Thistle
has developed its enviable position in the education market as one
of the leading players for storage equipment thanks to its unique
solutions centred approach, its fixed price commitment and its zero
defects guarantee.
Working with and core project team from Clydebank College and liaising
directly with the department heads and key contacts, Thistle’s
Project Team, developed individual designs for each area.
Within the building department, Thistle designed solutions that
incorporated its Heavy Duty Euro Shelving for storing materials
such as paint, clothing and larger items. However this versatile
solution also provides accessories such as small part containers
which were used in the plumbing store and lockable doors for storing
tools and expensive items in the brickwork store.
The flexible Euro Shelving product was also used in the art department,
physics department and the health and beauty department where its
superb durability and strength provides the perfect solution for
a multitude of products.
The Euro Shelving product comes with Biocote protection as standard
which is a patented finish that inhibits the growth of dangerous
bacteria and fungi such as salmonella, MRSA and Ecoli.
Project Manager, Alan Scott, explained, “Our Euro Shelving
system provides clients with a highly flexible solution that can
be used to store a variety of products and materials when used in
conjunction with the superb range of accessories. The Biocote protection
is critical in areas such as the health service, food and drink
sector and in laboratories however its unique ability to contro l
bacteria between cleaning makes it highly attractive in any environment
that experiences a large number of people.
For larger items in the paint store, Thistle supplied its Longspan
shelving system which provides and extended length of steel shelving
that can be also provide a light duty racking solution.
Thistle also installed its cantilever racking in the plumbing and
the joinery departments to store bulky items such as pipes and sheets
of timber.
Demonstrating its ability to develop storage solutions for almost
every environment, Thistle also designed and installed A Frame storage
system in the Outdoor Apparatus store to house canoes.
Alan explained, “The college had previously used a traditi onal
canoe storage system which was slightly cumbersome and made it difficult
to reach some of the boats. The A Frame system is commonly used
in the timber industry however the concept provides in a safe, practical
and accessible solution for this slightly unusual situation.”
In the Catering department, Thistle supplied specialised hygienic
storage system with open mesh shelving finished in chrome which
provides superb air flow and cleaning access.
Thistle also supplied its high specification lockers in key areas
around the college and as Alan explains, more and more organisations
are looking at vandal resistant locker system, “Lockers need
to withstand considerable handling and the old saying of ‘you
get what you pay for’ is never more applicable. Clients are
recognising that the cheaper locker options that are on the market
have a much shorter life span and tend to require continual repairs.”
